“Have you seen the checkbook laying around?”
We recognize that the days of remembering to bring your checkbook to church are fading fast.  People, like you and me, are using checks less and less.  In fact, since 2003, the number of checks written have dropped so drastically that the Federal Reserve closed down all 45 check-processing sites nationwide, and now only operate one in Cleveland, OH (FederalReserve.gov). Plus, with using the checkbook less and less, to try and find it when heading out the door with the family is a challenge in itself!
Then there is cash…
Gone are the days of carrying cash.  Only one in four purchases are now made with cash, and that number continues to drop (HuffingtonPost.com). The reality is, most of us carry a debit card, a couple credit cards, and about $20 (MAX!) at any given time, if we’re lucky. There’s more store discount cards and receipts in our purses and wallets than there are monetary bills! But we have come up with a great option for you to give…and not forget!
Is it safe?

Every donation is tax-deductible.
Credit Cards
We need to stress the importance of the moral and biblical implications of giving.  Never give money you don’t physically have in an account.  We never encourage you to tithe using a credit card unless you are finically responsible enough to pay it off at the end of every billing cycle.  NEVER go into debt to give to the church.  The debtor is slave to the lender (Proverbs), and you can’t serve two masters (Luke).  God loves a cheerful giver, not an irresponsible one.  Ok, He loves them too, but doesn’t want them in the trap of debt. 🙂 If you struggle with your finances, you’re not alone.  Come talk to us, as we have resources available to help you learn what the Bible says about money, and how you can have financial peace, and learn the joy of giving.
Why We’re Doing This
Look, this isn’t about getting more money from you. This isn’t about the church just trying to always get into people’s wallets.  This is about US making sure YOU don’t miss out on what the Bible calls US to do: give generously, be a blessing, enjoy prosperity through giving, and tithe.
Proverbs 11:24-25 says, “There is one who scatters, and yet increases all the more, and there is one who withholds what is justly due, and yet it results only in want. The generous man will be prosperous, and he who waters will himself be watered.”
The Bible also says that “…the righteous gives and does not hold back.” (Proverbs), “…test me on this…” (Malachi), “…your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.” (Matthew), and even the poor woman who gave all she had, even though it was less than what the wealthy were doing, found favor in Jesus when He said, “…out of her poverty, (she) put in all she owned, all she had to live on.” (Mark). What kind of story does your generosity tell?
The New Testament goes on to say, “…he who sows sparingly will reap sparingly, but he who sows greatly will receive greatly.” and “Now He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness.” (Corinthians)
Are you going to get rich giving?  Maybe.  Maybe not. God doesn’t promise that He always repays CASH for cash, but most wealthy Christians will tell you they have what they have because they give what they give…the cheerful ones at least.  But, that’s not why we give.  We give because it is His to begin with.  We give because it creates GAP in our lives where only God can show up and replenish, as He promises. We give because God loves a cheerful giver. We give because we believe in the work and the mission of GFMC.  We give because it’s an act of worship to our Almighty King.
So, if God is putting it on your heart to give, or to start tithing regularly, GFMC E-Giving is a great way to give, whether through check, debit or credit card.  Your gift can also be a one-time gift.  If you have any questions, concerns, need help navigating the website or setting up an account, please don’t hesitate to call our office at 716-532-5441.  It’s our goal to set you up to succeed, and GFMC E-Giving is another tool to do so!
